Case Study · Indian Music Player

Indian Music Player: an offline-first player, done properly.

No streaming, no search, no account - by design. Indian Music Player organizes and plays whatever's already on the device, with a 5-band equalizer and full lock-screen control. It holds a 4.9-star rating on Google Play.

The Brief

Make a local audio player that works with zero connectivity.

The brief was almost a constraint list: play local audio files only, never touch the network, never ask for an account, and make an equalizer that actually does something audible. Browsing by album, artist, or playlist; the sleep timer; the lock-screen transport controls - all of it had to work the same whether the phone had signal or not.

What We Built

Offline playback, a real equalizer, and full media controls.

Fully Offline Playback

Scans and plays local audio only - no streaming, download, or online search of any kind.

5-Band Equalizer

Adjustable 60Hz-14kHz bands with preset and custom modes, plus a widget and lock-screen media controls with album art.

Playlists, Sleep Timer & Background Play

Custom playlists, a sleep timer, and uninterrupted background playback with next-track previews.

Outcomes

Small app, near-perfect record.

Indian Music Player does one job and does it reliably - and the reviews reflect that. No streaming means no buffering, no account means no friction, and the equalizer actually changes what you hear.
